Caring About Students in San Antonio
High Touch High Tech scientists get students engaged and excited about science. Whether in classrooms or camps, for learning or for fun, we strive to inspire and encouage students to be thoughtful citizens in the community and respectful of our environment. When children see adults leading by example and contributing to society in a positive manner, they are more likely to model those positive behaviors. As educators, we are imbedded in the community with daily opportunities to demonstate the inquisitiveness, perspective, and impact that scientists can bring to education.
At HTHT in San Antonio, we love to participate in community festivals and events, present at schools for career day, judge science fairs, consult with students on their science projects, support non-profit organizations, and more. Ask and we may be able to help enrich your initiative.
Recent Activities
We love career day! On November 10, Miss Celestial visited Cisneros Elementary for their career day. She met students in eight classes and discussed how she became a scientist, the importance of staying in school, and answered all questions about being a scientist. Talking about being a scientist is OK, but doing science is BETTER! So, every student also conducted a fun chromatography experiment while learning the history and how this scientific method is used in chemistry labs every day.
The San Antonio Botanical Garden hosts a huge event every halloween called BOOTANICA! Parents and children of all ages come to the wonderful garden and participate in fun and games. Mr. Sonic conducted the Spooky Spider snatch where participants could keep their spider if they caught it; and everybody was a winner!
We are proud to support the Write-On-Imagination Newspaper, produced for children by children, where students can submit their creative writing and artwork for publication! Enjoy the October 2011 butterfly issue below.
